JULY NEWSLETTER
Doornbacht community is an informal settlement opposite DuNoon on Potsdam Road in Killarney Gardens. There are
currently 10 000 people living here, the community was described by some as the poorest and most needy community
North of Cape Town. Over 200 children are schooled in the 3 local crches which is being housed in 20foot containers.
The teachers / daycare providers have been unable to provide these children with food and most of them arrive without
a lunch pack. With winter on our doorstep, the 200 children have been reduced to only 30, mostly due to the cold and lack of warm
meals available to them while their parents are at work.
We are making a difference to these children; we have supplied them with 3 prep tables; a boiling table and 50L pots to cook food
in their new soup kitchen every day. For the next 3 months we are giving them all the vegetables they need to make enough soup
daily and warm the bellies of these little ones. We hope that with our contributions, we will see the 30 children increase back
to 200 every day within the next month. We will keep you up to date on the progress at the soup kitchen in this community.
Hi all Mac Brothers & Mac Sisters!
It gives me great pleasure in congratulating all who are responsible for compiling the first newsletter distributed last month. Not only is the
newsletter an important tool in communication between the staff compliment of almost 200 people, it is also an important method of
spreading information and keeping everybody up to date with the progress here at Mac Brothers.
I look forward to the next issue, especially as our company turns 5 years old on 1 July 2007. Every member of staff {past and present}
can be proud of what we have achieved here, as we strive to become the market leaders in our sector of the Food Service Industry.
Happy birthday Mac Brothers!

Shaun (at Mac Brothers for merely 2 months) and his A team recently completed a successful installation at Grand West Casino - one of our largest single contracts installed up to date. Shaun mentioned that he wouldnt have been able to pull this off without the support & hard work of his chosen team. Its those keen team members who are enthusiastic about their jobs who are first and foremost assigned to his installations team!
A day in the life of The A-Team starts out with Shaun doing a complete check of the site plan to ensure that JCs team has
set aside all the equipment needed to begin installation. Next he has to get the contracts loaded and secured in the Van.
All equipment is then leveled and lined up according to the specified plans after which the final touches of polishing &
cleaning rounds everything off neatly. This is hopefully followed by a handshake and goodbye from a very satisfied client.
(This is a general installation, not mentioning challenges that comes with some jobs, nevertheless easily overcome).
Shaun stated that All installations can be done swiftly and effectively if the contract manager/sales person performs a
thorough site inspection prior to installation. Sites are very often not ready for immediate access.
I love it when a plan comes together!

Patrick joined the Sabenza brothers on 13 September 2004. He joined the team as the Press Brake Operator which requires a special eye for bending the stainless steel to specific requirements for each product being manufactured. With these skills also comes an awareness of safety at all times. The operator, in this case Patrick, has to know this bending machine very well, to push the stainless steel in slightly too far could cause the loss of a finger, or worse a hand.
In the 3 years that Patrick has been employed by Sabenza, he has never once missed a days work due to sick leave.Thumbs up to you, Patrick for your commitment and loyalty to your job and company. Well done!
An avid soccer player and fan, he supports Ajax Cape Town and Liverpool, not forgetting our rugby teams! When he is not working he likes to spend time with his family in Delft, being his wife Charmaine, his two daughters Christelle age 4 (attending crche); Megan age 16 (at college); and son Patrick in Grade 3 belongs to the Lavis United Soccer Club, where he plays mid-field.
All fired up, a bunch of us left our normal day behind to become fire marshals. If only we knew that wed be crawling on our knees in blue clown suits all day, we might not have been so excited.
Getting everyone there in one piece was a challenge on its own, considering that Peter Ranson had about five navigators and a lot more commentators in his truck. After three hours of theoretical training, we were smoking. Whether it was from the sparks caused by the exam making old brain cells work again
will forever stay the biggest question of that day.
Looking and feeling like misplaced Fear Factor volunteers, we all had to
perform a very entertaining, but not-so-easy search and rescue exercise. Extinguishers were harassed and braai got a new definition, but we survived and passed all challenges. Every department in our building now has a qualified fire marshal that should be able to help in times of need.

We were placed in quite a predicament in deciding what activity we should partake in. The option open to us, go-carting unfortunately
fell by the wayside since Donna (short-shit) and JP (lang been) wouldn't have fitted in the vehicles.
The techs all enjoyed the fact that our ball dispenser broke down during the evening. Quinton grabbed the opportunity with both
hands and proceeded to, (verbally challenge) otherwise referred to as abuse, the staff. How long is this going to take?
Isn't this under warranty? Hurry the .... up? were some of the questions asked. He will be forced to stay away from Bacardi
at all future functions.
The other winners included Tony (I can't stay in my lane), Goosnie (I can't hit a pin) and Gareth (Please shut up, no swearing aloud).
The evening didn't end there, all the responsible people went home and certain individuals crawled home extremely early in the
morning. What's that place called, Galax....... something?
Thanks to the head honchos for giving us the opportunity and sorry for not taking pictures, but Donna's skirt was too short.
Fun was certainly had by all.
Winners were: In 1st place JP Du Preez 155 points, 2nd place G Hewitt 110 points, 3rd place Tony Bailey 105 points.
Introducing the sports corner we would like to congratulate the Springboks on there victory against the sheep-shaggers
from down under. People who attended the game enjoyed it so much that they had to re-watch again the following
day; apparently it had to do with memory loss. One of our employees enjoyed the game so much he discussed
the result with the big white telephone. Due to some attendees being late for the game, road works have been delayed on the N2 by the lack of orange cones and obscure siren noises which apparently brought traffic to a stand still. Once again congrats to the Springboks we wish them all of the best in the Tri-Nations as well as the World cup.
PS. Well done to Angel Cabrera on winning the U.S. Open - it's the closest thing we have to Peter Ranson in this company.
Hi everyone! |Its the scruffy guy formally known as the orange man, now a Mac Brother... Its primarily aimed at beginners, and will focus on email and internet usage. The courses start in September and will be held during work hours. Theyre not compulsory but please keep in mind - first come, first serve...
Look forward to seeing you in the future.
Cheers Matt.
